O'Quirey History
The O'QUIREY shoe and clothing brand was launched in 2003.
The spiritual father of O'QUIREY is Jan Palmen who was born in Groningen in 1953.
Following a career in sport, he worked in a sports shop in the city of Groningen. It was there that his love of the retail trade developed, and his love of shoes in particular.
In 1989, Palmen opened his own sports shoes business, Coach, in Assen. It became a great success and within just a few years, no fewer than 69 outlets had opened in the Netherlands and Germany under Palmen’s leadership. (see
www.janpalmen.com).
In 2000, Palmen sold Coach and started putting together plans for Fosbury.
Fosbury (
www.fosbury.nl), a store with an international character which sells shoes and clothing for women and men, first opened its doors in October 2001 in Assen, the capital of the Dutch province of Drenthe.
Fosbury has for many years had its own design studio, which is where the O'QUIREY brand was born.Developing its own exclusive shoes and clothing allows the company to better serve its customers and respond to specific needs.
The O'QUIREY shoe is a shoe that boasts premium quality.Virtually every O'QUIREY shoe is manufactured according to the Goodyear production method.Using the sewing machine developed by Charles Goodyear in 1872, the top of the shoe is sewn thoroughly to the sole. This luxury and exclusive finish guarantees the extreme durability and high quality of O'QUIREY shoes.
The shoes are equally recognisable for their wilful styling and colours.
Having seen the success enjoyed by the O'QUIREY brand in his own store, Palmen decided to further expand the O'QUIREY brand (see
www.oquirey.com), both in the Netherlands and abroad.
The first pair of O'QUIREY shoes in the United States has already been sold.
